NOTES:

“Credo” is an original setting of the Latin Nicene Creed. My intention is to create an artistic realization of the text while incorporating mystical symbolism into the music itself.

For example, the opening movement begins on a unison, representing the singular infinite consciousness of God before creation. The music then expands into a cluster chord encompassing the full octave, representing the manifestation of creation in all its form.

This is followed by two more unisons expanding into clusters (each more emphatic than the previous), representing the eternal cycle of creation and destruction (an Eastern concept). The meaning of the number 3, which features prominently in the piece, is obvious.

The work will be in three movements…

I. Credo in unum Deum (complete) – Duration: 4′30″
II. Credo in unum Dominum (in progress)
III. Credo in Spiritum Sactum (in progress)

The music can be described as majestic, grand, bold, even mysterious at times. I believe this piece has the potential of becoming a standard work in the sacred repertoire.

If you have a strong choir and the resources to put such a piece together… and you’re interested in possibly commissioning & premiering this work… then please contact me to discuss it further. I’d be happy to show you what I’ve written so far.
